THE LEGACY OF SUZUKI RITZ
& THE RMC ODYSSEY
Tracing the aerodynamic design breakthrough of the Splash/Ritz platform and the birth of our enthusiast fraternity. Engineered for urban warfare, celebrated on the open tarmac.
The Birth of an Iconoclast
When convention demanded rounded subcompacts, Suzuki forged a bold European-Japanese platform tailored for precision maneuvering and tall-boy packaging.
Rally Stance, Boomerang Tail & Dual Heart
Unveiled to world media as the Suzuki Splash before taking on the fierce moniker “Ritz” in the subcontinent, this hatchback shattered traditional silhouette moulds. It featured a radically steep boomerang rear tailgate, high cabin roofline, and wide European track widths that promised neutral balance through demanding mountain switchbacks.
85 PS at 6000 RPM. High-revving, responsive multi-valve engineering that rewarded drivers for riding the upper redline.
190 Nm torque punch at 2000 RPM. An indefatigable highway cruiser delivering surge acceleration and bulletproof longevity.

The Understated Driver's Benchmark
While mass buyers gravitated toward familiar, egg-shaped silhouettes, discerning drivers discovered the Ritz’s secret: communicative hydraulic-like steering weight, zero wallow under heavy crosswinds, and extraordinary driver eye-line sightlines via its elevated seat rails.
High-Speed Precision On Coastal PassesWhen Assembly Lines Stopped,
Our Brotherhood Ignited.
In late 2016, the final Ritz rolled off the factory floor. Mainstream dealerships moved forward, but on dark highway bypasses and track-day parking lots, a brotherhood formed. Seven original owners gathered at an all-night fuel depot along the Western Expressway, bonding over modified air intakes, custom suspension struts, and a shared pride in an unconventional masterpiece.
“We never looked for mainstream approval. We drove the car that outperformed their expectations. The Ritz didn't retire; it became our canvas.”

The Legendary 12-Car Highway Run
Twelve strangers answered a blind forum invitation on a damp Sunday morning. From bone-stock city commuters to de-badged petrol project cars, the 140km sprint into the Western Ghats proved the platform’s real-world dynamic chemistry. By sundown, the pact was made: never let this machine fade quietly.

Why The Ritz Handles Like Nothing Else
Dismissed by critics who merely judged its exterior tailgate geometry, hailed by chassis engineers who recognized its low drag profile and rigid structural hardpoints.
The Boomerang Tail Profile
The radical rear rake angle wasn't a styling gimmick—it was sculpted in Suzuki’s Japanese wind tunnels to violently sever boundary air separation, drastically decreasing the low-pressure vacuum zone behind the hatch.
The Torquey DDiS Character
The turbocharged Multijet heart paired with Suzuki’s lightweight monocoque. The instantaneous ramp of 190 Nm torque pinned occupants to their seatbacks, turning mundane overtaking lanes into high-thrust launchpads.
High-Seat Cockpit Command
Elevated hip-point geometry delivered unmatched situational awareness without the roll penalties of an SUV. Coupled with a dashboard-mounted gearlever, heel-and-toe downshifts felt natural and mechanical.
